Today Laura Kiefer shares a fun story about how with the help of CFU…She has come into her own and has transformed her life….

I Found my Voice
by Laura Kiefer ~CFU Bachelors & Master’s Student-
Ever felt Camera shy? Video Shy? Stage fright? Me too…
When I entered the Catch Fire Associates course, I had never made a video of myself, was quite uncomfortable being videotaped by others, and certainly had no desire to watch any videos with me in it!

I knew that being so self-conscious was holding me back in my career, and in a bigger sense preventing me from attaining the goals I had for my life.

It was rough in the beginning, but became easier and easier and I could see that I sounded more and more confident. It was only inside of the structure and community support of the Catch Fire course that I was able to attain this breakthrough (this was even after a year of participating in a local Toast Master’s group!).

I entered the program based on what I learned about ‘Igniting my own Economy’ in the book. I wanted to know more, I wanted to learn the steps; steps that I could not seem to SEE on how to transition my life from a J.O.B. to one of financial Freedom.
I have learned those things…and what I did not expect from participating in the Catch Fire curriculum was the tremendous gain in confidence I would achieve. Maybe that is what was making my vision so blurry when it came to taking action towards my goals.
I now take leadership roles at work…something I never used to do! The Catch Fire online coursework has transformed my life.

Running from Obstacles

Another fantastic blog from a student; Jim Keck. Jim no longer gets bogged down by obstacles, he’s learned to take control over his own life and any obstacles that come his way. Thanks for sharing Jim!

Running from Obstacles
by Jim Keck- CFU Bachelors & Masters Alumni

All my life I have looked at obstacles as things to be avoided. When I would come up upon an obstacle in my life, I figured that I was on the wrong path, and so I would take another.

Success usually came pretty easy for me, so I just came to expect my life’s journey to be an easy path without my having to work too hard. In one way this made my life easy because I had few struggles and disappointments. In another way, this was a huge disservice to me because I was letting life push me in any direction it chose – not the direction I chose.
I was living, but I was just not getting anywhere.

It was a huge revelation to me when I realized what I had been doing to myself and that I had the ability to take control of the direction in my life. That revelation came to me at a Weekend Seminar taught by Doug Nelson.

Now, having read his book & been through the Catch Fire University I have the ability to look at the obstacles in my path and choose to take control of my path, and realize that the obstacles I face are actually fantastic opportunities for me to learn and grow.

Now with the tools and skills I learned I will continue to expand the power I have over my life and over the obstacles that get in my way.

I BELIEVE MONEY REALLY DOES GROW ON TREES

Money MUST grow on trees-if you studied the US financial system. One of the first lessons learned with CFU is the dirty truth on just how it works and how you are directly affected [enslaved] by the broken system. We believe in EMPOWERING our students with the knowledge to free themselves of this never ending cycle and it’s so wonderful to hear when a students REALLY gets it. Today Angela Dodd shares with us her Aha moment on this topic…

Did you know banks can loan up to 6 – 10 times the amount of money they have on reserve?

So a $1,000 reserve, allows the bank to loan you up to $10,000 for the new car you want. Mind you, this $9,000 came from nowhere – maybe trees. Subsequently, this $9,000 gets deposited into another bank and allows this bank to loan another $8,100 (because they have to keep 10% for reserve) and the process continues until that initial $1,000 in real money becomes $100,000 both in and on paper. Where did the extra $99,000 come from – many trees!!

Money must grow on trees!

It’s the interest we pay on this debt that keeps the system in play. It’s the interest that also keeps us in financial bondage and keeps us in jobs we don’t like and working in an automobile factory at age 83.
As a 20+ year veteran of corporate America that was laid off a few years ago, I now realize how enslaved I was to debt. And I also realize how much my livelihood was so tied to this economy.

Big Aha Moments!

So I’ve shifted my paradigm regarding this cruel, unrelenting slave master called ‘the economy.’
I read the book Catch Fire: How To Ignite Your Own Economy by best-selling author Doug Nelson. Then I participated in the Catch Fire University Associates Program to develop strategies to create my own economy.

We can change the economy when we take charge of our own economy!

Be sure to check out our retirement calculator here on our site and see how well you’re prepared for your own retirement. If the numbers scare you-it’s time to take action!

Today Paivi Kaufman ~ CFU Bachelors & Master’s Alumna shares his retirement wake up story…

Great question isn’t it???

In my business, I am associated with lots of people who are still working well into their seventies, while they should be enjoying retirement and life. And they are not working because they WANT to, it’s because they HAVE to.

I just couldn’t stand the thought of being in that position.

I started my journey a long time ago, and for years I have been reading and taking seminars about finances. It’s what I do. Through the years, I had my share of reminders, and realized I must take ACTION to change my financial future and be able to retire by the age of 60.

It’s a good thing I always kept my eyes open for new options, new ways to help myself and others. My curiosity finally paid off, because about a year ago, I read Doug Nelson’s book: “CATCH FIRE, HOW TO IGNITE YOUR OWN ECONOMY” and realized “This is the answer for me”.
So I jumped-in for the ride of “My Financial Freedom”, and I have to tell you; the past 12 months have been just a fantastic journey.

This book was such a fun and easy read… I had never heard it explained in such “Down To Earth” terms. It gave me the answers and solutions I needed, with a simple (but proven) strategies to implement them. While reading it, I started to take steps to change my own financial future. I learned a fun way to track my expenses, and discovered how to find money that was hiding in my current economy. I have also learned new ways to market my current and future businesses.

I want to thank you for the book “CATCH FIRE, HOW TO IGNITE YOUR OWN ECONOMY”. It gave me the tools to start enjoying life WITHOUT constant money worries.

ADDICTED

Addicted to Self Development? Not only is it possible, it’s becoming a common problem in our society.

Over the last 20-30 years, the personal development field has mushroomed and more and more people have are turned on to the idea that they can change and improve their lives, learn about themselves and develop more meaningful lives. It’s great to explore and learn about new ideas, and get fresh imput into your mind space — but it is also important to use that information, internalise it and allow your own authority and wisdom to flourish.

It’s hard not to be affected somehow by the emotional high that comes from attending personal development seminars and for a brief time people feel as if they’re taking positive action…But when they’re just about to begin the real action phase — the kind that produces measurable results — somehow they always get sidetracked, and the end result is nothing-no real lasting change in their lives.

I and my faculty here at Catch Fire University understand that change doesn’t and CAN’T happen over night and we also feel that we all need guidance and support through life-and more importantly we believe in EMPOWERING YOU to make a positive change not only in your life, but in the lives of others and on the world around you. We at CFU have created a community with amazing faculty, supportive students and successful alumni, where you can do just that…IF you allow yourself to actually experience the ups and downs and to do the HARD WORK that comes with making lasting life changes. At CFU you are not just another client, student, number…you become part of our CFU family and we all work together.

Today, a student, Unique D’Vine shares with us her story and it’s a perfect example of what we hear often from other students…Thank you Unique for sharing with us…

ADDICTION
Unique D’Vine~ CFU Bachelors & Master’s Alumni

I have to admit that somewhere around the summer of 2010 I developed an addiction.

I became what I call a personal development junkie. Oh yes, I had the itch. I had been exposed to books and courses that were taking me to new highs personally, spiritually, and professionally and I couldn’t get enough. They say that motivation is a drug, and the high is short-lived, and for this reason, I found myself always seeking the next best book, the next best course, and the next best seminar, in order to feed my personal growth addiction.

The issue with being a personal development junkie is that it can be costly and can be filled with highs and lows of growth and failure. While I can honestly say that every book, course, or seminar I’ve ever invested in has be extremely beneficial, even with all that I have read, and all the weekend warrior seminars I have attended, I hadn’t experienced the exponential growth that I was really seeking. I would be enlightened and on fire for as long as the seminar or course was in session and then slowly but surely I would ride that enlightenment wave right on back to who I was before. Basically, everything I was learning was sitting on the surface. It wasn’t taking hold on a deeper, cellular level which was what I needed to really grow me to the level I desired.

Well, my addiction cycle met its match when I read Doug Nelson’s book, “Catch Fire: How to Ignite Your Own Economy” and became a Catch Fire University student. Of course, at first, I only registered for the University in order to feed my addiction; however, after a few weeks into the Associates Degree program, I realized that this was unlike any other course or seminar. Catch Fire University not only provided knowledge and growth strategies on various personal and business related topics, it also provided a safe place for me and my classmates to put these concepts into practice with each other, over the course of several weeks, not just one weekend.
I truly believe that the active, extended, practice time makes all the difference. It allowed me time for the information to sink in and stick. Catch Fire University may not be a “real college”, but I feel that Catch Fire University is just as rigorous, relevant and on par as any other online university.

I am now a Catch Fire University Masters Degree Student with 15 weeks and who knows how many hours invested into my studies… I am now experiencing that exponential growth that I had wanted, both within myself and my business. I have real nuts and bolts, practical education that is now part of me and the way I think and function constantly. The CFU program is so comprehensive, that I really don’t seek out so many courses and seminars anymore and I’ve become way more strategic and selective about the ones I do participate in since becoming a student. I find myself now saying, “Well, I don’t really need this course/seminar, I’ve already been learning and practicing this as a student at CFU!” Yes, I’ve finally gotten my ultimate fix!

So, if you are in the highs and lows of personal development addiction like I was and you are ready for some REAL LIFE learning, then I highly recommend that you save the money you were going to put towards your next weekend seminar and invest it into becoming a Catch Fire University student. It just may be last major course you’ll ever need.
